Morton Center;    Map

Room 211;

All levels of students are encouraged to attend. Students will be paired in quads and play a round robin.  Cost is $5 per session.  It is my recommendation that even students that do not know how to move all the pieces would greatly benefit from this extra practice and I encourage all to attend when possible.

USCF Rated Scholastic Competitions

Throughout the year, various scholastic competitions rated through the United States Chess Federation, the national governing chess body. These are open to all USCF members. Scholastic memberships are available at www.uschess.org

Common Tournament Questions

Parents should expect to console their children when they lose and encourage good sportsmanship regardless of the results. Children play chess best when they are not surging with adrenaline (or sugar) and when they know that their primary aim is to play their best, not necessarily to win. The ultimate winners of every event are the players who do not get too low after a defeat, or too high after a win.
